PHILIP BRIGS
Philip Briggs is a seasoned traveller and writer, his books include the only practical guide available to Ethiopia, "Guide to Ethiopia" , 354 pages, 50 maps & town plans, etc. Philip Briggs has also written:

A.I.D.S. - What do we tell our children? A one hour documentary confronting the global issue of A.I.D.S. commissioned by London Weekend Television. Winner of a Silver Medal in the New York Festival in 1992.
Submarines - Sharks of Steel. This four hour co-production between Discovery Productions (U.S.A.) and Beyond Productions for Time-Life Television was filmed in Russia, Lithuania, England, Germany, Spain, Japan, U.S.A. and Australia. When screened on Discovery Chan- nel, it outranked all other cable networks during its time period, becoming the highest rated mini-series in Discovery's history.
Deep Probe. A series of five documentaries in which two Australian aquanauts, Liz and Andrew Wight, explore the frontier of a world we hardly ever see: the 75% of the world's sur- face underwater.
Pirates. (In production.) A 90 minute special documentary on modern - day pirates who still terrorise the South Asian seas.

BARRY CHEVANNES
Barry Chevannes is a senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the
University of the West Indies, Jamaica. He was a senior visiting scholar at the Institute of Social
Studies in The Hague and the recipient of a Rockefeller Fellowship. Professor Chevannes has
published numerous articles on Rastafarianism and is the editor of Rastafari and Other
African-Caribbean World Views.
His book, Rastafari, Roots and Ideology, is a rich historical
and ethnographic work, which will be of interest to religion scholars,
historians, scholars of Black studies, and a general audience interested
in the movement and how Rartafarians settled in other countries.

Studies at Michigan State University. He is the author of the readable and

Dr.Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to Israel

documentary on Ethiopian Jews, the author of five books, and has taught

Dr.Steven Kaplan
is a senior lecturer in Comparative Religion and African Studies
Department at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is the author
of The Beta Israel (Falasha) in Ethiopia: from Earliest Times to the
Twentieth Century, also published by the New York University Press.
In 1939 the same year that the ten-year-old Karola Ruth Siegel left
Germany en route to her refuge in Switzerland, Steve's mother (also Ruth)
fled as a twelve year-old from Germany to America. While Dr. Ruth's
personal journey eventually led her to Israel and from there to America,
Steve was born in the United States but eventually settled in Israel.

Sorrel Wilby is an award winning adventurer, author, photographer, and artist; the first
Australian woman ever admitted to the venerable New York-based
Explorers' Club. Her adventures include
