"WOMEN'S CEREMONY" © Ada Bird Petyarre

About the painting: The 'U' shapes are women. A totem for the tribal healer (NagangRare) is shown with the women in the center. The body paint and other designs are associated with a ceremony to teach the young women Ngangkare Awelye (healing rituals). The artist stated that the painted breasts represent her younger sister, Gloria Petyarre. Gloria is also an artist.
